Bradford N. Smith And Joe Gonzales Reach The Finals Of Prestigious Scriptwriting Competition

Their Script, "Storyville," Is In The Final 10 Chosen For The Cinequest Competition

"Storyville," a TV series script about 1903 New Orleans, the birth of jazz, race relations, prostitution and politics, has made it into the Top 10 of the prestigious Cinequest Screenwriting Competition. The script was written by Joe Gonzales and Bradford N. Smith who will be on hand in February along with the other finalists for the announcement of the winners and to be there to meet with film and television industry executives there to discuss these top scripts.

Cinequest Film Festival is held in San Jose / Silicon Valley. Set in the home of the world’s most influential media technology companies, the festival showcases premier films, renowned and emerging artists, and breakthrough technology. It has recognized some of the biggest names in the business at its festivals while at the same time plucking some of the hottest new names emerging.

"We are so excited to get invited to be there for the awards presentation," said Joe Gonzales. "Whether we win the top prize or not, being in the top ten is such an honor so we are already quite proud of our effort."

Smith agreed. "This script is one of the best Joe and I have done so far and we knew we had something good. But it is always nice to be recognized for what you have done. And more importantly, it will be great to have the script and us introduced to industry players while there. We really believe in this project."

This is also not the first time the talented writing team have been singled out for outstanding writing. They have also earned a Nicholl Screenwriting Competition Quarter-Finalist spot, two Screencraft PilotLaunch Semifinalist spots (Half-Hour Comedy and Hour Drama), and received an Amazon Studios “Notable Project" designation.

Cinequest Film Festival is being held February 24 to March 8 this year. The winner of the scriptwriting competition will be announced in a ceremony on February 28th.
